William vs. Milan Round 3 — KO

So I went back to Milan. You may recall a funny story from last time where my hair received all kinds of abuse. Verbal abuse.

Remembering very well that the client liked everything about me but my hair, I decided I would try and flat-iron it this time for the casting. Have any of you tried that before? Flat-ironing your own hair? Well I achieved what could best be described as a semi-straight 80’s puffiness.

The casting for this show is always towards the end of casting week and really feels like a “last chance” casting.

Same thing. I walk in, show my book, try on the jacket, walk, and then hear rapid Italian, rapid Italian capelli rapid Italian, rapid Italian. “Capelli” is the Italian word for hair. I look at the designer and stylist and with amused resignation and say “It's my hair right?”

“Your hair is a mess.”

Completely despondent I laughed and said “This happened last time, what do you want me to do?”

“We like your face, but not your hair.”

“...”

“We have the hair and makeup. Don’t worry. You’ll be in the final twenty. See you tomorrow for the fitting.”

I was ecstatic! I still didn’t believe I was going to do the show until I actually stepped out into the lights, well, actually until my heart was pounding as the coordinator held my right arm waiting to say “go!” but I was nevertheless happy.

I will post pics when I get them, but for now here is me and my friend Tyler on the way to and from castings.

I’m in Paris now with Focus Models for another adventure. Wish me luck! If you want to do so on the phone, the number here is +33 (0) 155280894. (Don’t ask me how it’s dialled.)
